The University of San Francisco women's golf team travels to Las Vegas for the final fall tournament of the season when they play in the Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational hosted by UNLV at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. The Dons have had a terrific fall finishing no lower than eighth in any of their tournaments this season.
"We head into the Las Vegas Showdown well rested and very prepared as we took a five day stretch off over fall break," said head coach
Sara Doell. "The team had a chance to relax and get rejuvenated. Rest is often underrated in athletics and we needed a break. Since they have been back on campus, our practices have been focused and productive. I believe the team is feeling physically and mentally strong and am excited to see them finish out this fall season on a high note."

The Course
The Boulder Creek Golf Club (Desert Hawk & Coyote Run Courses) is a par 72, 6,277 yard course. The Desert Hawk run will play as the front nine with the Coyote Run will play as the back nine.
"The course at Boulder Creek is a fair test of golf with undulated greens and the conditions are often windy with the lack of trees on this course, which can create a challenge," said Doell. "We are fortunate to practice at the Olympic club where we have great opportunities to practice in the wind with the proximity of the Cliffs Course to the ocean, which will prepare us Boulder Creek."
The Field (18)
The 2019 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown will be represented by a field of 18 teams including host UNLV. Also competing will be Colorado State, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Idaho, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Illinois, Oral Roberts, Portland State, South Dakota State, Tulsa, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UNR and Wyoming.
The Dons
USF is coming off a strong finish in horrible conditions at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Sammamish, Wash. The Dons captured sixth place after climbing two spots on the final day. Senior co-captain
Samantha Gong was the catalyst for the Dons strong showing, she climbed 24 spots on the leaderboard on the final day to finish tied for fourth. Gong was one of three players to shoot under par in the final round. This fall, the Dons boast a stroke average of 296.1, and have three top-10 finishes so far. Joining Gong this week will be
Annika Borrelli,
Jade Siphomsay, and
Pearl Rojanapeansatith. Making her USF debut is freshman
Toni Sottile.
"I'm really proud of what the team has done so far this fall," said Sottile. "While this is the first time I've made the lineup, I'm excited to be a part of the team success. I'm so excited to represent the Dons in an event for the first time!"
