WHATS THE STORY
• USF enters Friday's contest with a 7-3-1 overall record. The 7-3-1 start is the best start for the Dons under head coach
Jim Millinder. On the road, the Dons have been fantastic this year, going 4-2-0 away from Negoesco Stadium, including a 3-1record in true road games. On the road the Dons have scored eight goals, averaging 2.0 goals per game, they have taken 45 shots on the road with 26 on target for a .578 shots on goal percentage.
• The Dons are coming off their longest homestand of the season where they went 2-0-1 after defeating Montana 1-0 two weeks ago. Last week, the Dons went 1-0-1, tying with Cal State Fullerton 3-3 last Friday before defeating UC Davis 3-2 on Sunday.
• Junior forward
Ashley Humphrey was named the WCC Player of the Week last week after finishing with three goals, including two in the win over Davis. It is the first WCC Player of the Week honors for Humphrey and second for the Dons this season. Senior keeper
Olivia Camera earned it earlier this year.
• Humphrey two goals in the win over the Aggies was her second career multi-goal game. She first accomplished that feat last season in the Dons 4-1 win over Pacific on Oct. 14, 2018. Humphrey is the third player this year to score multiple goals in a game, she joins
Samantha Jehnings and
Miciah Madison.
• Dynamic Duo: USF's senior forwards
Miciah Madison and
Samantha Jehnings are proving to be a lethal 1-2 combo. The two have combined to score 12 of the Dons 23 goals. They both rank tied for 61st in the nation in total goals.
• Striking First: For the eighth, the Dons scored first in their win over UC Davis on Humphrey's first goal of the day. USF improves to 7-1 on the year when they score first. Their lone loss came in overtime against Northeastern.
• Making It Count: The Dons rank seventh in the WCC in shots per game, averaging 11.0 per contest. However, USF is currently third in the WCC in goals per game, averaging 2.09. USF's 23 goals as a team also ranks third in the WCC.
•
Olivia Camera, The Brick Wall: The Dons' senior keeper has been a stud in goal for USF this year. Her four shutouts are a new career-high, she leads the conference in both saves (48) and saves per game (4.36). Her 48 saves ranks 62nd in the nation. For her career, she now has 227 saves which ranks third all-time. She is one of just four players in USF history to eclipse 200 career saves.
• Shooters Shoot: USF ranks 20th in the nation in shot percentage, they've taken 121 shots on the year with 67 on goal for a .554 shots on goal percentage. Senior forward
Miciah Madison is a big reason for that, she currently ranks 36th in the nation in short accuracy, 18 of her 28 shots have been on goal for a .643 percentage.
• Jehnings In Historic Company: Senior forward
Samantha Jehnings recorded her 30th career goal in the loss to Northeastern. The 30 goals makes her one of three payers in USF history to eclipse the 30 career goal plateau. First all-time is Shanna Haines (1986-89) with 42 career goals. In second is Kellie Bryant (1992-95) who scored 33. The two players ahead of Jehnings are members of the University of San Francisco Hall of Fame.
• Starting Lineups: The Dons have played 11 games this year and have used nine different starting lineups. USF has five players who have played and started all 11 games:
Olivia Camera,
Candace Hillegas,
Samantha Jehnings,
Miciah Madison, and
Keely Roy.
