Dons Battle in Final Round to Capture Eighth

PALM DESERT, Calif. – In the third and final round the University of San Francisco men's golf team played consistent golf which enabled to the Dons to secure a top-10 finish at the Wyoming Desert Invitational at the Classic Club.
After 54 holes, USF finished with a team score of 19-over 883 (308-286-298) after carding a 1-over 289 on the final day. Tim Widing and Toby Briggs once again mirrored one another to finish tied at 17. Soren Lind had his best round of the tournament to finish tied at 20th to give USF three players inside the top-25.
"I thought we battled well today," said head coach Jack Kennedy. "We had moments where we could have let the round get away but we really competed down the stretch. We will build off of this first event and be ready to host at Olympic in a few weeks."
Widing and Briggs finished the day with identical scorecards for the tournament, finishing with 3-over par with a three day score of 219 (78-70-71). Widing finished the tournament on a roll carding three birdies on the back-9 including a birdie on 18.
Briggs opened the final round with a birdie on one and after bogeys on the third and fifth hole, responded with birdies on eight and nine. He finished the round playing par golf on the final nine holes.
Lind finished the tournament with his best round over the last three days. For the tournament, he recorded a 4-over 220 (77-73-70). Lind climbed 21 spots on the leaderboard o the final to get into the top-20. After playing even golf on the front nine he birdied the 10th, 14th and 17th to finish the back-9 two under. Lind tallied nine birdies in the tournament, four coming today.
Christoffer Palsson finished tied for 62nd at 10-over 226 (76-73-77), Alex Chin finished behind him in a tie for 81st 15-over 231 (77-75-79).
Skyler Eubank of Boise State was the individual champion at 9-under 207 (68-68-71). No. 18 Texas Tech took home the team title finishing with a 6-under 858 (290-282-286).
The Dons will return to action on Monday Mar. 11 when they host the Olympic Club Intercollegiate at the famous Lake Course at the Olympic Club.
