FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team finished the first day with a 26-over 602 (301-301) at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate cohosted by the Dons and San Jose State at the Meadow Club. Freshman
Annika Borrelli led the Dons with a strong second round to finish the opening day tied for 12th.
"The golf course staff had the course in great shape today and the weather was pristine," said head coach
Sara Doell. "As a team, we were strong from tee to green. The putter was what hurt us today as several players struggled to get the speed of the green. Losing confidence in the putter early can make a 36 hole day tough! With two rounds of 301, we are sitting in 10th place. Hoping to come out strong tomorrow with a chance to move up the leader board."
Playing at the par-72 Meadow Club, it was
Annika Borrelli's second round that highlighted the day for the Dons. In the final 18 of the day, Borrelli went off, climbing 16 spots on the leaderboard to finish the day just outside the top-10.
