SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team is right back in the hunt for a conference title after carding a 2-over 286 on the day, which is the lowest round of the tournament so far. USF is currently in fourth just four back the leaders at the WCC Championships located at the Manito Golf and Country Club.
After 36 holes, USF is 28-over with a team score of 596 (310-286). Today's round by the Dons is the lowest team score of the year for USF and the 2-over is the second closest to par that USF has shot since the opening round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown when they shot an even par 288. All five Dons scored better in the second round, four players are in the top-15 for the USF, with two in the top-10.

Sara Doell. "The team showed up to play and it was obvious in our results. Sam Gong had the first eagle of the tournament by holing out from the sand on hole number four and finished with a solid one under par. She looked really steady out there. Annika finished with a string of pars to end with a great round of 71. Joan played steady all day and finished with that one over par 72 and Pearl birdied the last two holes to shoot a two over par 73. Jade improved upon yesterday shooting 77 and looked a lot more confident out there. We are excited about our performance today and look forward to finishing our season strong tomorrow!"
Samantha Gong finished the second round with a 1-under 70, it is tied for the lowest round of the tournament, she is one of just two players to shoot under par so far. In doing so, she climbed eight spots on the leader board to finish the day in a four-way tie at 15
th with a 10-over 152 (82-70). Gong's hot round started bogey-birdie-bogey before her eagle on four, she then strung together five pars to go into the back-9 1-under. On the back-9 she was even par thanks to birdies on 10, 13, and 16. For the tournament, Gong has six birdies and the tournaments lone eagle. The six birdies are tied for second most in the tournament with teammate
Annika Borrelli.
Borrelli remains the Dons leader after 36 holes, her even par 71 is tied for the second lowest round of the day. For the tournament, Borrelli has been stellar, she's one back the leader at 3-over 145 (74-71).
Pearl Rojanapeansatith is in second for the Dons and in sole possession of ninth place after moving up five spots in the second round. Rojanapeansatith finished with a 2-over 73 giving her a two-day score of 7-over 149 (76-73). She started the round with a birdie on the first hole, but her finish in the back-9 was tremendous, going 2-under with birdies on 11, 17, and 18.
Taking the biggest jump on the leaderboard by anyone in the tournament was
Joan Soewondo who climbed 11 spots on the board. Soewondo finished the afternoon with a 1-over 72. For the tournament she's sitting just outside the top-10 with a 9-over 151 (79-72). Birdies on four and nine had her even on the back, she carded a birdie on 15 to give her three for the day and four for the tournament.
Freshman
Jade Siphomsay is in 23
rd with a 16-over 158 (81-77). Like her teammates she also had a strong second round, her 6-over 77 saw her card birdies on five and 14.
After starting the day 12 back the leaders, USF is now just four strokes back Pepperdine who has taken the lead at 24-over 592 (298-294). The individual leader is the Waves' Hira Naveed who is 2-over 144 (74-70) after two rounds.
The Dons will tee off on the championship round tomorrow morning again at 8:00 a.m. They will be paired up with Santa Clara.
