SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team had three members take home West Coast Conference All-Academic honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday. Earning the honors are junior
Samantha Gong and sophomores
Pearl Rojanapeansatith and
Joan Soewondo.
To be considered for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a significant contributor to her team and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20.
Gong, a Kinesiology major sports a 3.25 grade point average, she played in all 10 tournaments for the Dos in 2018-19 and finished with an average round score of 75.36 which was second on the team. She boasted seven rounds at par or better including a season-best 3-under 69. She carded 84 birdies and one eagle, the 84 birdies was tops on the team. At the WCC Championship she finished tied for eighth after coming back from an 11-over 82 in the first round, finished with a 1-under 70 and an even par 71 to go 223, her 10 birdies that tournament led the conference.
Rojanapeansatith boasts a 3.92 GPA which was second best on the all-academic list. The Entrepreneurship & Innovation had a breakout season for the Dons in 2018-19. She played in all 10 events for the Dons in her sophomore campaign, finished the year with four top-20 finishes including three top-15 finishes. She posted a 75.8 stroke average with three rounds of par or better on the season and carded 58 birdies on the year. At her first WCC Championship she finished tied for 13th with a 12-orer 225 (76-73-76) recorded six birdies in the tournament.
Soewondo, an Accounting and Marketing double major sports a 3.67 GPA. She also played all 10-tournaments in 2018-19. She recorded a 76.3 stroke average this season, her top finish came at the WCC Championships when she finished tied for 13
th, her lone top-20 finish on the year.
