CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — For the second consecutive year, four members of the University of San Francisco women's golf team were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars list, announced Monday. Sophomores
Pearl Rojanapeansatith and
Joan Soewondo were joined by freshmen
Annika Borrelli and
Jade Siphomsay.
"I am so proud of all four of our underclassmen for making the WGCA All-American Scholar Team," said head coach
Sara Doell. "We take our academic progress very seriously on our team and these results show how hard they have worked in the classroom while balancing a rigorous golf and travel schedule. We set academic goals every year as a team and we have exceeded those goals all four semesters that I have coached at USF to date. I am very proud of this accomplishment and look forward to seeing them all continue to succeed academically."
This is the second consecutive year for Rojanapeansatith and Soewondo – who earned this honor in their rookie years. Rojanapeansatith, the entrepreneurship and innovation major
finished the spring with a perfect 4.0 GPA, her cumulative GPA was a 3.94. Soewondo, a marketing and accounting double major, finished the year with a 3.73 cumulative GPA.
Borrelli and Siphomsay, who had a strong debut to their collegiate careers on the golf course, finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.85 and 3.64, respectively.
A total of 1,097 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this honor. According to the WGCA's official release, the criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
