SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco women's basketball team will face three postseason teams from a year ago and take part in two tournaments as part of its 2019-20 non-conference schedule, announced Tuesday by head coach
Molly Goodenbour.
Â
San Francisco (7-24 overall in 2018-19) has lined up 12 non-conference contests for the 2019-20 season ahead of the West Coast Conference slate kicking off, including five games in The City and two exhibitions. The Dons will travel internationally to Vancouver, British Columbia, for the Vancouver Showcase on Nov. 28-30, and will go back to the Pacific Northwest in December for the Husky Classic at the University of Washington on Dec. 20-21.
Â
"I am excited about the competitiveness of our non-conference schedule," said Goodenbour. "We play against teams with a variety of styles of play. The goal is to help prepare us for WCC competition."
Â

The year starts on Nov. 5 with a road game at Big Sky Conference runner-up and 2019 WNIT participant Northern Colorado. The Dons' first game of the season in San Francisco will take place at the Chase Center – the new home of the Golden State Warriors – on Nov. 9. USF will take on Pac-12 Conference runner-up and 2019 Elite Eight team Stanford as part of a doubleheader with the USF men's team – the first college basketball games played at the arena.
Â
San Francisco's first contests in the comfortable confines of War Memorial at the Sobrato Center will take place on Nov. 16 and Nov. 18. The Dons host CSUN, then the University of Idaho – a 2019 WNIT participant – respectively, for that first home stand on The Hilltop. They return to The Hilltop in December for two home games over 10 days. Cal State Fullerton comes to San Francisco on Dec. 4, and Sacramento State visits on Dec. 14, one year after the Dons won in the capital, 86-75. The Dons also travel to defending Big West Conference champion UC Davis on Nov. 22.
Â
"We have an opportunity to take our team to Vancouver to play in a highly competitive tournament at Thanksgiving and then play at Washington before Christmas break," added Goodenbour. "I think this will be an appropriately challenging schedule for the group that we have this season."
Â
The Dons will play three games over three days at the end of November in the Vancouver Showcase. The tournament field has yet to be announced. The 2018 field included top-10 ranked teams Notre Dame, Oregon State and South Carolina, as well as WCC champion Gonzaga, Western Kentucky and East Tennessee State. At the Husky Classic in December, USF will face host Washington and UC Irvine.
