WGOLF | Dons Sit in Fifth After Two Rounds at Ptarmigan Ram Classic

Fort Collins, Colo. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team sits in fifth place after shooting a 31-over 607 (303-304) to open the Ptarmigan Ram Classic at the par-72 Ptarmigan Country Club hosted by Colorado State.  The Dons had three players finish in the top-20 who were led by Pearl Rojanapeansatith who finished the opening day tied for fourth.

"We had a tough day on the golf course today overall," said head coach Sara Doell. "The par fives really hurt us and that is typically the best part of our game. Our preparation going into this event was great and are coming off of two really solid tournaments prior to this, so we will not let this deflate us. We are looking forward to coming out strong tomorrow and moving up the leaderboard."

Rojanapeansatith opened the tournament with a with a 1-over 73, she followed that up with a 2-over 74 to finish the day with a 3-over 147.  Rojanapeansatith is just four back the individual leader, New Mexico State's Dominique Galloway, who finished with a 1-under 143.

"Today was a pretty steady day for me," said Rojanapeansatith. "Although I did have two double bogeys in the 36 holes, I felt like my game overall was pretty solid. I'm looking forward to having redemption on the par fives tomorrow and helping the team to finish better."

Sophomores Annika Borrelli and Jade Siphomsay finished tied for 18th after 36 holes.  Both players carded identical 6-over 150s, shooting 73-77.  In the opening round, Borrelli played largely mistake free golf, the lone blemish a double bogey on 16 to finish the round 1-over.  In the second round a triple on 14 and three other bogies had her finish the round 4-over.

Siphomsay finished the day with four birdies, three coming in the opening round. She was sharp on the par fives, going 2-under and averaging 4.75 for the day on the par fives.
