SAN FRANCISCO – In these tumultuous times a simple conversation between the men's basketball coaching staff spawned something more. Head coach
Todd Golden, along with Associate Head Coach
Kevin Hovde and Assistant Coach
Vinnie McGhee, discussed what they could do to help offset the inequalities faced by inner city kids.
In this edition of Dons From Distance, Director of Creative Video
Katie Morgan sits down with the trio and discussed the creation of the Coaches Coalition for Progress and what they hope to accomplish.
Golden, Hovde, and McGhee, along with Oklahoma assistant Carlin Harman and Washington State football defensive line coach A.J. Cooper, created this group – their mission statement is to "foster community relationships and improve academic and athletic opportunities for underserved youth."
McGhee, a native of West Oakland, shares his experiences of growing up in a similar situation to what the Coalition aims to help.
Coach Golden stresses that the Coalition welcomes any coach from all sports who wish to join.
