CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — For the third consecutive year, four members of the University of San Francisco women's golf team were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars list, announced Monday. Juniors
Pearl Rojanapeansatith and
Joan Soewondo were joined by sophomores
Annika Borrelli and
Jade Siphomsay.
"I'm so proud of our student athletes and how they have put their academics as a priority," said head coach
Sara Doell. "This year showed even more how our students care about their education and success in the classroom. Having a semester switch to virtual learning from home in the middle of season was challenging and we handled it so well. They pivoted to a different way of learning and excelled."
This is the third time Rojanapeansatith and Soewondo have been named to the list. Entrepreneurship and Innovation major Rojanapeansatith finished the spring with a perfect 4.0 GPA; her cumulative GPA was a 3.96. Soewondo, an Accounting major, finished the year with a 3.65 cumulative GPA.
Borrelli and Siphomsay continue to excel in the classroom and on the course. Borrelli, a Management major, finished the spring with a 3.77 GPA and boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.75. Siphomsay, an Urban Studies major, finished the spring with a 3.93 and boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.77.
A total of 1,401 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this honor. According to the WGCA's official release, the criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
