TUCSON, Ariz. – The conditions at the Arizona Intercollegiate continue to be all over the place. The University of San Francisco men's golf team dealt with a delay due to snow, followed by windy conditions to open the round to perfect conditions as the second round came to a close. Through it all, the Dons shot the fourth best round of the day, finishing with a 2-under 282 as a team.
After 36 holes, the Dons are currently tied for fifth with San Diego with a 20-over 588 (306-282). The Dons climbed three spots on the leaderboard and sit behind Oregon, New Mexico, Wake Forrest, and tournament leader Arizona. The Wildcats finished the day with a 9-under 275, they remain the only team under par with a 9-under 559 (284-279).
After two rounds the Dons still have two players in the top-30 with Tim Widing and Soren Lind sitting tied at 22nd, Matthew Anderson is tied for 29th.
Widing finished the day with 1-under 70. He opened the round with a par on the third hole and birdied the fourth. After a bogey at six he went on to string together four-straight pars before birdies on 11 and 13. A bogey on the par-4 17 was the lone blemish on the back-9. He finished up with pars on holes 18, one, and two. His 13 pars on the day gives him 25 for the tournament which is tied for fifth most. After two rounds, Widing has a 4-over 146 (76-70).
Lind finished the day with an even par 71. After two rounds he is tied with Widing at 4-over 146 (75-71). Lind opened the round with a bogey on four but immediately got back to even with a birdie on the fifth. Lind also carded birdies on eight, 18, and two. He continues his strong play on the par-5s. For the tournament he is 3-under on the par-5s with an average score of 4.50, which is seventh best in the field.
Matthew Anderson finished the day with an even par 71. Through two rounds he has a 5-over 147 (76-71). Anderson opened the day with five-straight pars before carding a birdie on the eighth. He then went on to record five more pars before back-to-back bogeys on 14 and 15. Anderson go back to even with a birdie 17.
Third year Christoffer Palsson matched Widing's 1-under on the day. Palsson moved up 13 spots on the leaderboard to finish the day tied at 41st. Through two rounds he sits with a 7-over 149 (79-70). Palsson opened the day with back-to-back bogeys on three and four before ripping off four-straight pars before a birdie on the ninth. On the back-9 he six more pars before recording a birdie on 16 and 18.
Toby Briggs finished the second day with a 5-over 75. After two days he is tied for 73rd with a 13-over 155 (80-75). Alex Chin is competing as an individual and is tied with Briggs at 73. Chin finished the day with a 6-over 77 and is 155 (78-77) after two rounds.
The individual leader remains Brad Reeves from Arizona. After shooting a 2-under 69 he sits 5-under for the tournament with a score of 137 (68-69).
