SAN MATEO, Calif. – Twelve University of San Francisco baseball players received West Coast Conference All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference office on Friday morning. Landon Bourassa and
Alex Pham earned First Team honors with an addition 10 players receiving honorable mention accolades.

Kyle Knell,
Thomas McCarthy,
Josh Mollerus,
Grant Nechak,
Jacob Westerman,
Jack Winkler, and
Grant Young all earned Honorable Mention honors. It is the second consecutive year the Dons have had at least 12 players earn All-Academic honors.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average and be a starter or an important reserve, having participated in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests.
This is Bourassa's second time on the all-academic list, earning the honors in 2020. The grad student in the sports management program boasts a GPA of 3.80. The native of Lethbridge, Alberta was brilliant in his first full season back on the mound. He finished the season with a 7-4 record and sported a 2.88 ERA.
Pham makes his third appearance on the all-academic list, the finance major who sports a 3.47 GPA earned honorable mention honors in 2019 and 2020. Pham finished tied for the team lead with 22 appearances this season, finishing with a 3-5 record and four saves.
Greim, a marketing major with a 3.53 GPA, makes his second appearance on the list. Greim played in 40 games this season, making 24 starts. He clubbed four doubles and two home runs.
Jelinek, a business administration major with a 3.36 GPA, is earning all-conference honors for the second time as well. In 14 appearances in 2021, he finished with a 2.95 ERA.
Knell, an accounting major with a 3.47 GPA, makes his second appearance on the WCC All-Academic list. He earned honorable mention honors last year. In 2021 he was a wizard with the glove this season. He finished the year with a .986 fielding percentage and turned seven double plays.
McCarthy, a politics major with a 3.84 GPA is one of five players making their third appearance on the WCC All-Academic list. This is his third year earning honorable mention honors. In conference play this season he hit .257, clubbing a home run against the Toreros.
Mollerus, a management major with a 3.67 GPA earns all-academic honors for the second time. He finished the year tied for fifth on the team in strikeouts. Nechak a graduate student in the sports management program, boasts a GPA of 3.53 and makes his second appearance on the honorable mention list. He struck out 36 in 48.2 innings pitched in 2021.
Washburn, a history major with a 3.34 GPA, is the lone Don making his first appearance on the list. Washburn finished the season with a 1-0 record and a 2.89 ERA in 10 appearances.
Westerman, Winkler, and Young all make their third appearance on the All-Academic list. Westerman a graduate student in the Public Administration program, sports a 3.44 GPA. He hit .271 on the year and clubbed four home runs. Winkler, a biology major with a 3.73 GPA, finished second on the team in average (.307) and home runs (seven). Young, a fellow grad student in the writing program, sports a perfect 4.0 GPA. He went 1-1 in 18 appearances this spring.
USF excelled in the classroom in the fall, finishing with a team GPA of 3.50. 43 players finished with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, 29 of those players finished with a 3.5 or higher. Freshman
Max Jones joined Bourassa, McCarthy, Westerman, and Young with perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall.
