SAN MATEO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco baseball team had five student-athletes earn All-West Coast Conference accolades as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning. Highlighting that group was freshman infielder
Luke Keaschall, who was named the WCC Co-Freshman of the Year.
Keaschall, a native of Watsonville, Calif., also took home First Team All-WCC honors and All-Freshmen Team honors. Junior
Jack Winkler joined Keaschall on the first team and
Landen Bourassa took home second team honors.
Alex Pham and
Jordan Vujovich garnered honorable mention accolades.
Keaschall played in 53 games, making 51 starts at second for the Dons. He hit .320 on the year, which was 15
th in the WCC. His 64 hits were third-best in the conference. Of his 64 hits, 19 were extra base hits, including 11 doubles, four triples, and four home runs. He finished third on the Dons with 30 runs driven in.
In the field, Keaschall and Winkler formed a prominent double play combos in the league, combining to turn 40 double playes on the year. Keaschall boasted a .957 field percentage, while Winkler turned in a .951 field percentage.
This is Winkler's second all-conference honor, but first time receiving first team honors, having landed on the Honorable Mention team in 2019. This year, the junior from Littleton, Colo., played and started all 53 games for the Dons, hitting .307 with a .505 slugging percentage. He mashed 17 doubles and a career-high seven home runs.
Bourassa had a tremendous season in his first full year back from injury. The native of Lethbridge, Alberta was sensational from the beginning, earning a win over No. 2 UCLA in his first start of the season. For the year, Bourassa went 7-4 with a 2.88 ERA. His seven wins was tied for the lead in the WCC. His 75 punch outs was sixth-best in the conference.
Bourassa earned WCC Pitcher of the Week, as well as several national pitcher of the week awards after throwing a three-hit complete came shutout against Portland, striking out a record-tying 16 Pilots in just 106 pitches. He later tossed a second complete game against Santa Clara on May 28.
Pham takes home his second Honorable Mention accolade following a stellar season as the Dons bullpen ace. The native of Union City, Calif. finished the year with 22 appearances, which was tied for most on the team. He finished the year with a 3-5 record, including four saves and 72 strike outs, which was second on the team and gave him 285 in his USF career. His 11.81 k/9 rate ranked fourth in the WCC.
Jordan Vujovich made an impact immediately on his first year on the Hilltop. The transfer from Oklahoma led the Dons with eight home runs, which was tied for ninth in the WCC. Two of his round trippers came in the series against No. 2 UCLA. His .603 slugging percentage in WCC play was second on the team.
