SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Following a stellar freshman season on the Hilltop and summer in front of Major League Baseball scouts in the Cape Cod League, Dons' sophomore infielder
Luke Keaschall has been picked as the No. 31 overall MLB Draft prospect for the 2023 class,
according to D1Baseball.
Keaschall was the lone WCC player to be picked as was ranked as the fourth best shortstop prospect overall. It was a tremendous debut in the spring for the Watsonville, Calif. native as he led the Dons with a .320 batting average, .406 on-base percentage and 64 hits and was second with an outstanding .881 OPS.Â
Following his tremendous spring, Luke took his talents to the premiere Cape Cod Summer Collegiate Baseball League. As a member of the Orleans Firebirds he continued to rake this time with a wood bat at he posted a .320 batting average in 20 games with the Birds as well as an impressive .820 OPS facing the top collegiate talent from across the country.
Returning to Benedetti Diamond this spring, Keaschall will be a key part of the Dons' 2022 season with his talents in the batter's box, running the bases and playing in the middle of the diamond.Â
The top 50 list was a combined effort from D1Baseball including Aaron Fitt, Kendall Rogers, Mike Rooney and David Seifert. Â
