SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced this morning that USF forward Claudia Langarita was selected as the WCC's Freshman of the Week after her stellar play this last week in the Dons' two game home sweep over San Diego and Pepperdine.

It was a record breaking week for Langarita in the two USF wins at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. Starting on Thursday, she used her size to punish the Toreros' aggressive brand of defense, tying her career high with 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting to go along with six rebounds, an assist, steal and a game high +22 while on the court.

She followed that performance up two days later with a career-high of 20 points in the Dons' win over the Pepperdine Waves, as she also grabbed six rebounds and forced a steal. It's been a fantastic debut season for Langarita on the Hilltop, as she is currently leading the Dons in field goal percentage at 47% while sitting 11th overall in the conference in the same category.

USF returns to the court tonight for a make up of their previously scheduled game against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Spokane. The Dons will then travel east to take on Pacific Thursday night, before returning home to host the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
