BACK ON THE ROAD:
- The Dons will be playing their next five games in the state of Oregon as they will face take on the Pilots before venturing south to Eugene for two games against the Oregon Ducks on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- USF's received some great thump from the top of their batting order as Luke Keaschall leads the WCC with 10 doubles and fellow infielder Mario DeMera is second in the conference in doubles as we're just under the halfway point of the 2022 season.
- On the mound, Friday starter Owen Stevenson is seventh in the WCC in earned run average with a sparkling 2.73 ERA in his six starts as he's struck out 19 opposing hitters in 26 1/3 innings pitched.
- Despite a low batting average, outfielder/designated hitter Jordan Vujovich is fourth on the Dons with a sky high .958 OPS due to his great ability to get on base and hitting for power.
SCOUTING THE PILOTS:
- Portland's off to a strong start to their season as they won their first six games in a row and took two of three against the BYU Cougars last weekend at home to kick off WCC play.
- Leading the Pilots' offense this season has been the strong play of junior outfielder Briley Knight who is eleventh overall in the WCC with a 1.017 OPS as he's reached base and hit for power at a very high rate so far this season.
- On the mound, the Pilots will use their top starter for Saturday's game as junior right-hander Brett Gillis who's been dominant in five starts as he's thrown a complete game and is fourth in the WCC in earned run average with a microscopic 1.45 ERA in 31 1/3 innings pitched.
- USF owns the all-time record between the programs with a 30-15 overall advantage, including winning two of three last season at Benendetti Diamond.
