SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – With the conclusion of the regular season on the horizon, the University of San Francisco baseball program has officially wrapped up their 2022 signing class with the addition of six new student-athletes.
Having signed four pitchers and one pitcher in the fall, USF will now welcome two more pitchers, two outfielders, one infielder and one catcher.
Will Asby / Outfielder / Sacramento, Calif. –
Asby comes to the Hilltop after two successful seasons as an outfielder at Sacramento City College. In 2022, the Sacramento native has appeared in 34 games for the Panthers as the Sacramento native has slashed .316/.401/.470 with 4 home runs and a team-high 26 RBI to go along with 20 runs scored, 15 walks and two stolen bases.

Mat Keplinger on Asby- "We are very excited for Will to be a part of the USF program. Will is a transfer from Sacramento City College via Jesuit High School. He is a power left-handed bat that we expect to hit in the middle of the order. He has a great baseball mind and is a special leader that makes everyone around him better. The future is extremely bright for Will and he will make an enormous impact on all of us."
AC Cabrera / Utility / Morgan Hill, Calif. -
Coming to the Dons after a stellar career at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Cabrera is a talented utility player who has spent time at third base, first base and on the mound. Throwing and batting from the right side, the Morgan Hill native was named to the 2021 Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American Team before earning a spot on the 2022 Perfect Game All-American and All-Region Teams.

Mat Keplinger on Cabrera: "We are excited to welcome AC to the Hilltop. He comes from Mitty, which one of the top high school programs in the Bay Area. AC brings the potential to be a two-way player for us by providing depth in the corner infield and a quality right-handed pitcher with a plus breaking ball. AC is a special leader, competitor, and comes from strong family values that will immediately make our program better."
Ruben Rivera / Pitcher / Danville, Calif. -
Another dominant pitcher from the local ranks, Rivera will come to USF after a four-year career at San Ramon Valley High School. Overall, the left-hander has compiled a 1.98 ERA across 92.2 innings pitched with the Wolves, which includes 84 total strikeouts and a .188 opponent batting average.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ruben to the University of San Francisco. Ruben is a left-handed pitcher out of San Ran Ramon Valley High School that brings a track record of success with him. Ruben can throw four pitches and really knows how to change speeds. You pair that with his recent velocity increase and competitive spirit and he will have an opportunity to help us as soon as he steps on campus."
Casey Threats III / 2B/SS / Pittsburg, Calif. -
Making the short trip to the Hilltop, Threats III will be joining the Dons after spending time at Pittsburgh High School in his hometown of Pittsburg, Calif. Known for his athleticism, Threats is primarily a middle infielder who moves well laterally and has smooth hands and good footwork with a quick release. Excellent in the classroom, the Bay Area product was also named to the 2021 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect list.

"Casey is another local Bay Area talent that we are excited to welcome to the Hilltop. Casey has thrived at Pittsburg High School in the classroom and on the field. He is a middle infielder that can defend multiple positions, is a plus runner and has the ability to hit for power in the future. Casey is an outstanding student and is a leader in the community. There is an extremely high ceiling for Casey in all areas of a student-athlete on our campus and I am eager to see him develop."
Noah Nichols / Outfielder / Valencia, Calif. -
Spending the last two seasons on the varsity team at Valencia High School, Nichols comes to USF after a strong career in his hometown of Valencia. In his two years with the Vikings varsity squad, the outfielder has hit .301 in 47 games played, which includes one home run, 10 doubles, 42 total hits and 37 runs scored.

"Noah will be a great addition to the USF program. He has had a great prep career at Valencia High School and he demonstrates tremendous athleticism, speed, and strength. Noah is an extremely hard worker that his hungry to develop and push himself and his teammates. He plays with a very high motor and infectious energy that we are excited to welcome to the Hilltop."
Evan Nahra / Catcher / Altadena, Calif. -
Trekking north to Southern California to join the Dons, Nahra comes to USF after a productive career at La Salle College Prepatory in Pasadena, Calif. Originally hailing from Altadena, Nahra is an an athletic catching prospect who is quick moving to block and deadens the ball well. Typically setting up in a low stance, the 6'0" backstop posses a clean exchange where he gets rid of the ball quickly, which helps him to make accurate throws the diamond. At the plate, Nahra drives the ball well with his lower half as he is able to produce strong line drives to all fields.

"We are thrilled to welcome Evan to the University of San Francisco. Evan is a tremendous student and competitor that embodies all of the qualities of a Don. He comes from La Salle College Prep in Pasadena, CA and is prepared to make an immediate impact when he arrives here on campus. He is a recently converted catcher that has gravitated naturally towards the position with really good hands and a plus arm. There is a lot of strength in his bat that projects well for us."
