DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Last time out, the Dons took two out of three against BYU as USF returned home to Benedetti Diamond last weekend for the first time in over two weeks. With their series victory over the Cougars, the Dons have now tallied four WCC series victories this season- Portland, San Diego, Pepperdine and BYU.
- Heading into the weekend, Luke Keaschall currently ranks tied for eighth nationally with 26 stolen bases on the year. Overall, USF also has three of the top five base stealers in the conference as Harris Williams III is fourth with 17 stolen bags while Darius Foster is fifth with 15. As a team, the Dons are also tied for sixteenth in Division I with 86 stolen bases on the season.
- Remaining consistent at the top of the lineup, Keaschall currently holds a sixteen game on-base streak while teammate Gabe Giosso has reached safely in fourteen straight games himself.
- Since 2018, USF has won seven of their last eleven meetings with the Gaels. Last year, the two teams split their four-game series with each team going 1-1 at their home venue.
SCOUTING THE GAELS:
- In their last time on the diamond, Saint Mary's fell at home to Nevada, 5-1, on Tuesday, May 3. Prior to their meeting with the Wolfpack, the Gaels dropped their previous to Pacific last weekend as the Tigers swept SMC in Stockton.
- Leading the charge at the plate, Chris Santiago currently sits second in the WCC with 10 home runs while also leading the Gaels with 27 total RBI on the year.
- Offensively, Saint Mary's has proven to be dangerous with the bats as SMC currently ranks in the top five as a team in walks (182, second), triples (15, second), stolen bases (77, second) runs (273, third), hits (414, third), doubles (80, third), extra base hits (128, third), total bases (623, fourth), batting average (.271), on base percentage (.362) and slugging percentage (.408).Â
