SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf program and head coach Sara Doell officially announced their schedule for the upcoming fall season on Friday afternoon.
"We are extremely excited to get going again this fall," said Doell. "We begin our year with an event that is held once every three years with the Olympic Club Invitational and we are honored to host this event at such a prestigious course. Coeur D'Alene is a favorite of our team as it is a great course that will test all of our student-athletes. Our tournament at New Mexico State will mark our first time in this event while we will also return to Boulder Creek for the NAU event, where we typically play very well. Overall, I am looking forward to seeing our student-athletes compete at the highest level as we begin our journey will a strong four events to start the fall."
Highlighted by the Olympic Club Invitational to kick off their year, the Dons will compete in four tournaments this fall. Notably, USF will begin their campaign by hosting the Olympic Club Invitational at the prestigious Olympic Club in San Francisco on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13. This tournament will mark the first home event for USF since the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Mar. 8 & 9, 2021. Fans are welcome and encouraged at the event.
Next, the Dons will travel north to compete in the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational for the second straight year. In 2021-22, USF finished seventh overall as a team while
Hannah Zeman (tenth) and
Annika Borrelli (tied for twenty-fifth) each placed in the top 25 individually.
Moving along, USF will then make the trip to Las Cruces, NM as the Dons will participate in the Golf Iconic Classic (hosted by New Mexico State) at NMSU Golf Course from Oct. 3-5.
Rounding out their fall schedule, USF will compete in The Clash at Boulder Creek for the second year in a row when they return to Henderson, Nev. from Oct. 23-25. Last year, the Dons enjoyed success in this tournament as three student-athletes finished in the top 25 individually:
Annika Borrelli (tied for third),
Riana Mission (tied for eleventh) and
Jade Siphomsay (tied for twenty-fifth).
Overall, USF will aim to build off of their momentum from last year as Doell was awarded West Coast Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2021-22 while Borrelli and Mission were named to the All-WCC Women's Golf Team. As a team, the Dons earned their first tournament win under Doell when the Dons finished first overall at the Valley Invitational on Feb. 7 & 8. As a whole, Doell guided USF to four top five finishes in five regular season competitions last year and a No. 70 ranking in the final Golfstat NCAA Division I team rankings. In the postseason, Mission was selected as the top individual qualifier for the Stanford Regional in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, where she would go on to place fourth overall in her field and tie for forty-seventh overall.
Looking at the roster, the Dons will return Mission, Siphomsay,
Lisa Marie Rudometkin,
Toni Sottile and
Hannah Zeman while newcomers Jolie Chee, Eva Pett and Yvonne Shang will join the team this fall.
