DONS AT A GLANCE:
- It was a tremendous opening week for the Dons, highlighted by a season-opening hat trick from sophomore forward Marissa Vasquez in the win over the Vikings.
- Vasquez was able to also score the lone USF goal in the tie against Oregon as she has already matched her goal total from the 2021 season as she was also named the WCC's Offensive Player of the Week.
- Freshman forward Lindsey Chau was able to get on the board with her first collegiate goal in the win over Portland State, and was all over the place in the tie against the Ducks as she did a tremendous job of leading the USF attack.
- Junior goalkeeper Megan Nail was able to record a clean sheet in the season opener and allowed just the one goal against Oregon as she has started her 2022 year on a nice note.
SCOUTING THE CARDINAL:
- Stanford open their season at home with a dominant 5-0 route of Sacramento State on their home pitch before their first road game on the Hilltop.
- Junior forward Samantha Williams scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to help lead the Cardinal past the Hornets in the season opener.
- USF's defense will need to be aggressive and on point to try and limit the Cardinal's potent offensive attack as they were able to manage an astounding 37 shots back at the Farm against Sacramento State.
- In the opener the Cardinal used a pair of student-athletes in goal as junior Ryan Campbell played the first 58 minutes of game action and was replaced by sophomore Haley Craig who both combined to shut out the Hornets.
HONORING KATIE MEYER:
- Prior to the beginning of the match on Thursday, USF will honor former Stanford goalkeeper Katie Meyer with a moment of silence after her tragic passing this spring. To donate to Katie's foundation, "Katie Saves", please click here.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES:
- UC Davis has been off and running to begin the 2022 season as they have been able to notch a pair of victories on the road as they defeated both UTEP and Santa Clara.
- The Dons will be the third consecutive WCC opponent that the Aggies will have seen to begin non-conference play as they take on Pacific at home on Thursday evening.
- Junior midfielder Molly Branigan had a tremendous game in her team's season opening victory over the Miners as she notched a goal and an assist to help lead her team to the victory.
- Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Caeley Goldstein has been a key piece of UC Davis' early season success as she's recorded a pair of clean sheets to go along with nine total saves through two matches.
