Dons Hit the Road to Play CSU Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- After beginning their season with seven straight matches at Negoesco Stadium, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (4-0-2) travels for their first away game to continue their non-conference schedule on Saturday against CSU Bakersfield (2-3-1) at Main Soccer Field at 7:00 p.m. 

The Dons hit the road for the first time during the 2022 season still unbeaten as they've defended their home pitch and received a result in four of their first six matches. USF's used a combination of a strong offensive attack and tremendous goalkeeping with nine different student-athletes scoring goals so far this for the Dons while also recording three clean sheets in their first six matches.

 DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • The Dons have stayed undefeated in their long stretch of home matches during their non conference schedule this season, USF's offense has made tremendous strides in 2022 as they're currently averaging 2.3 goals per game. 
  • In their last match against Cal Poly, USF was able to put together their best performance of the season thus far defeating the Mustangs by a 6-0 score as they has three student-athletes record their first career collegiate goals in the victory. 
  • USF's back line has done well to keep the team out of the loss column as freshman Reid Roberts has been a force, starting every game for the Dons as center back and netting his first collegiate goal in their last game against Cal Poly. 
  • Senior Nathan Simeon has continued to be dangerous in the USF's offesnive attack, recording six assists over the past six games played as well as starting in every one of the Dons' first six matches. 
 SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS:
  • This will be Bakersfield's seventh game of their non-conference schedule as they've posted a 2-3-1 record as they've so far played two fellow WCC opponents defeating Gonzaga after falling short against Pacific. 
  • Freshman Rene Cortez and Sophomore Jacob Fitzgerald both lead CSU Bakersfield in points with one goal and one assist each on the year. 
  • In goal, junior Filippo Dadone has allowed eight goals on the year and made 22 saves for the Roadrunners and is the reigning Big West Defensive Player of the Week. 
 SERIES HISTORY:
  • Saturday's match will be the first time the Dons have played the Roadrunners since Sept. 1, 2016. This will be the fifth time the two teams have faced each other with the Roadrunners leading 3-1 against USF.
