Dons Climb Leaderboard on Final Day to Finish Sixth in CDA

COEUR D'ALENE, ID. – Competing in their second tournament in as many weeks, the University of San Francisco women's golf team finished the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational on a high note as the Dons climbed the leaderboard as a team on the final day of action to finish in sixth place.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
  • Starting the tournament with strong play, USF was tied for fifth as a team after the first day as Fresno State transfer Yvonne Shang was tied atop the individual leaderboard with a -4 (67) through her first 18. Additionally, Riana Mission (T-15th, +1/72) and Jolie Chee (T-24th, +2/73) also each sat inside of the top 25 individually.
  • After falling a few spots on the second day, the Dons never lost faith as they climbed from tied for thirteenth to sixth place on the final day in Coeur D'Alene. Following the full 36 holes, Chee impressed in her first official tournament in the lineup as the freshman from Honolulu finished as the highest individual (T-31st) for the green in gold with a 7-over-220. Just a few places behind her, Shang tied for thirty-fourth with an 8-over-221.
  • Rounding out the lineup, Mission tied for forty-fith with an 11-under-224, Jade Siphomsay tied for fifty-sixth with a 13-over-226 and Hannah Zeman tied for seventy-first with a 17-over-230.
  • Overall, USF shot 28-over-880 (291, 301, 288) across their three rounds as a team, which included 167 pars and 33 birdies. Notably, Chee paced the Dons with 36 pars while Shang tallied 10 birdies across her 36 holes.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH DOELL:
"I am so excited to see Jolie have a breakout performance and lead us as a freshman in her first time in the lineup. Overall, it was a solid team performance and I am glad we had a strong bounce back in round three with four of our players shooting 72's to jump up the leaderboard seven spots. Moving forward, we have identified what we need to work on as we prepare for our next event at New Mexico State."

UP NEXT:
USF will take the next two weeks to rest and regroup as the Dons are set to return to action beginning Oct. 3 at the Golf Iconic Classic. Hosted by New Mexico State at NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, USF will participate in the three-day tournament from Monday, Oct. 3 through Wednesday, Oct. 5. Live results will be available via the team's schedule page.
