SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Heading south for their lone matchup of the week, the University of San Francisco men's basketball team (14-9, 3-5 WCC) will aim to split the season series against San Diego (10-12, 3-5 WCC) on Saturday night as the Dons are set to battle the Toreros at 7:00 pm inside Jenny Craig Pavilion.

DONS AT A GLANCE:

• Last week, USF secured two crucial wins as the Dons routed Pacific, 78-57, on Thursday, Jan. 19 before taking down BYU, 82-74, on Saturday, Jan. 21. Notably, Tyrell Roberts poured in his highest point total at the Division I level against the Cougars as he finished with a game-high 30 points, including an impressive 14-of-16 from the free throw line.
• Climbing the ranks each week, Roberts is now sixth in the WCC in scoring with an average of 15.6 points per game. Just a few spots behind, Khalil Shabazz enters the weekend eleventh overall with an average of 14.9 points per game. Notably, Zane Meeks also ranks fourteenth in the conference in field goal percentage with a 48.7 percent clip.
• Staying true to their recent patterns, the Dons continue to hoist it from deep as USF currently sits ninth in Division I in three-pointers attempted per game (28.5) and eleventh in three-pointers made per game (10.1). Individually, Roberts ranks ninth in the WCC and 28^th nationally in three-point percentage (41.5).  

SCOUTING THE TOREROS:

• Last time out, San Diego earned a season sweep of Pepperdine when they took down the Waves on the road in Malibu, 87-78, on Thursday, Jan. 26. Dominating as a duo, Marcellus Earlington tallied 30 points and 12 rebounds while Eric Williams Jr. also recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
• Playing in his fifth year at the collegiate level, Earlington has been a force for the toreros so far this year as he is currently fifth in the conference in scoring (16.5 points per game), total points (362) and offensive rebounds (53).
• As of Friday night, USD, Portland and USF are all tied for seventh place in the conference standings with a 3-5 record in WCCplay. Depending on the results of Saturday's games across the league, the Dons have potential to climb as high as the fifth seed this weekend.

SERIES HISTORY:
Saturday's meeting between the Dons and the Toreros will mark the 91st matchup all-time between the two programs as USF currently holds a 49-41 advantage in the all-time series. Last time out, USD defeated the Dons, 80-68, on the Hilltop on Dec. 31, 2022.
