Trio of Dons Earn All-WCC Honors

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially announced the conference's major awards for the 2023 season on Wednesday morning.

For San Francisco, Marissa Vasquez was selected as the WCC Midfielder of the Year while also being named to the All-WCC First Team. Additionally, Jackie Koerwitz earned Honorable Mention honors while Olivia Lukrofka was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team.

Dominating every game on the pitch, Vasquez earned All-WCC honors for the fourth straight year and the second straight season in which she was named to the All-WCC First Team.

Playing and starting in 17 of USF's 18 matches this season, Vasquez averaged almost one goal per game in conference play this fall as she scored six of her seven goals in WCC action. Overall, she finished first in the conference in shots on goal per game (2.00), tied for first in shots on goals (34), second in shots per game (3.47), third in shots (59) and tied for eighth in goals (7). Notably, she also finished fourth on the team in minutes with 1,364 across the 2023 season. On Oct. 2, Vasquez was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career after recording her third career brace in a 2-0 shutout of Saint Mary's on Saturday, Sept 30.

Making an immediate impact upon her arrival on the Hilltop, Koerwitz impressed this fall as she was one of only seven Dons to appear in all 18 matches. Making 16 starts along the way, the Miami transfer finished fifth on the team with 1,303 minutes played while also tallying three goals and 6 points for USF.

Playing an integral role in her first season as a Don, Lukrofka was dangerous with the ball at her feet all year. Playing in 15 games and starting two of them, the Portland, Ore. native found the back of the net three times during 2023, which included back-to-back game-winning goals at UC Riverside on Sept. 10 and at Chattanooga on Sept. 14. Overall, she finished tied with Vasquez for first in game-winning goals (2), tied for second in assists (2) and tied for third in goals (3). In total, she played 485 minutes in her first season in the green and gold.
