Women's Soccer Unveils 2023 Recruiting Class

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Following a long spring as the calendar slowly changes into summer, the USF Dons women's soccer team and head coach Jim Millinder are excited to announce the team's 2023 recruiting class heading into the fall season.

The Dons are coming off of an 8-5-6 2022 season that saw them finish at 3-3-3 overall in the West Coast Conference and ended the season by going undefeated in their final six matches.

USF's class features eight student-athletes with one graduate transfer and seven incoming freshmen who will add to the Dons' depth as they look to continue building in a tough WCC.

Among the class, the Dons are adding three players from the greater Portland area, three from Hawaii and one foreign athlete coming to the Hilltop from Iceland.

Get to know more about the eight newest USF women's soccer players below:

Tinna Magnúsdóttir, Goalkeeper/Seltjarnarnes, Iceland

The lone foreign student-athlete in the USF class, Magnúsdóttir will be a welcomed addition to the Dons' defense with her size and wingspan to make life difficult for opposing attacks. Having competed for her country's under 18 national team during the fall of 2022, Tinna was able to go undefeated in the six matches she competed in with a trio of clean sheets against Denmark, Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

"We are thrilled to have Tinna join us from Iceland," associate head coach Pinder Nijjar said. "She brings a great presence along with her ability to command her 18-yard box. We are very excited to see her compete for the Dons during her collegiate career."

Jackie Koerwitz, Forward/Sacramento, Calif./Miami (FL)

A three-year player for the Hurricanes in the ACC, the Northern California native is coming back closer to home following a 2022 season that saw her total three points with a goal and an assist in 752 minutes played. She helped Miami pick up a crucial road conference victory in their match at Boston College with a 90th minute game-winner to help the program earn its first ever road victory over the Eagles.

"Jackie is coming to us as a transfer and brings a ton of experience along with her," Nijjar said. "She has competed at a good level and will increase our competition for places in the team. We were recruiting Jackie when she was in high school, so it's amazing to see her finally represent the Dons."

Natalie Drotzmann, Defender/Beaverton, Ore.

Competing for both Beaverton High School and soccer club Northwest Elite FC, Natalie brings tremendous tenacity and feel for the game that makes her a threat in the offensive attack. A second-team all-league selection for the Beavers during her senior year, she helped lead her team to an impressive victory knocking off local powerhouse Jesuit High School to end their 76-match league winning streak.

"We are anticipating that Natalie will adjust to the college level very quickly due to her personality and competitive spirit," Nijjar said. "We are so fortunate to have Natalie in our program and we are excited to see the hunger she brings to preseason in August."

Kaitlyn Sasaduesz, Forward/Lake Oswego, Ore.

An aggressive player at the front of her team's attack, Sasaduesz joins the program's strong contingent of Pacific Northwest hailing student-athletes to join the USF program. Kaitlyn came up big for her high school team last fall during the 6A Oregon women's soccer high school postseason by scoring the game-winning goal for the Lakers in their victory over Forest Grove to help her team reach the quarterfinals.

"Kaitlyn is an exciting player that is always looking to be dangerous in the final 1/3," Nijjar said. "We have recruited a lot of players from Portland in the past and we expect to continue this trend of amazing players and people with Natalie, Olivia and Kaitlyn."

Olivia Lukrofka, Forward/Portland, Ore.

Another student-athlete coming to the Hilltop from the Pacific Northwest, Lukrofka will provide some more depth to the USF offensive attack following her successful career at Grant High School. Olivia came through for her high school squad during last fall's 6A regular season in her team's 5-0 victory over Newberg with a pair of key assists.

"Olivia has a tremendous ability to find a shot for herself and this is what stood out on first impressions," Nijjar said. "After getting to know her and seeing first hand her intelligence whilst creating space and finding open channels we were really excited to go down the recruiting process with her. Another one from Portland that will have an impact on this program."

Sydni Yoshida, Midfielder/Forward/Kaneohe, Hawaii

A versatile athlete comfortable playing in the front of the attack or setting up in the middle, Yoshida's energy and speed will be a key addition to the Dons' roster in 2023. A willing leader and strong presence with her personality, Sydni now joins her older sister Ali who plays for Colorado State in joining the Division I soccer ranks.

"Sydni has bundles of energy and determination," Nijjar said. "She is so eager to succeed every time she plays that it becomes infectious with her teammates. That positive influence is what we are looking for her to bring with her in August and challenge and push our players to be the best in training every single session."

Kamryn Kaleiohi, Defender/Kai, Hawaii

Tasked with leading the back line of defense throughout her time in high school, Kaleiohi brings relentless energy and passion that will be a welcomed addition to USF. Scoring a key goal for her school against Punahou High School earlier this year, her personality and abilities on the pitch will help add to the team's already strong foundation.

"Kammy has a personality that will fit right in with our team from the very beginning," Nijjar said. "Going through the recruiting process with Kammy and getting to know her family was an amazing experience. We are really excited to see her tenacious attitude and relentlessness in our environment."

Isabella Ayau, Midfielder/Kula, Hawaii

The third Hawaiian student-athlete to join the Dons' program in 2023, Ayau did a tremendous job leading her high school and club team as the field general. Starring for Kamehameha Schools across four years of play, she was named the Maui News MIL Player of the Year award as selected by the league's coaches.

"Bella is a very talented midfielder with high levels of energy and an exceptional level of vision," Nijjar said. "Her range of passing and her dribbling with the ball is what made her stand out in an ID Camp that we hosted. Can't wait for her to represent the Dons and is one of 3 players coming in from Hawaii that we are so excited about."
