SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially announced on Monday that
Eric Waltz, a goalkeeper for San Francisco, has been named WCC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 14.
Â
Helping the Dons to their biggest win of the season,
Eric Waltz returned to play for the first time since Sept. 15 as the redshirt junior guided the Dons to a 2-0 upset of No. 2 Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Â
Overall, the keeper turned away Stanford's lone shot on goal in the 68th minute as the green and gold secured their fourth shutout of the season and their third in their last five games. Notably, the performance marked the eighth time the San José native has played a full 90 minutes this season.
Â
For San Francisco, this marks the third WCC Player of the Week honor this season -
Isaiah Easley/Offensive Player of the Week (x2).
