SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Following a dominating performance last week, leading the University of San Francisco men's basketball team to two wins, Malik Thomas has been named West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Week for the second time.
Continuing to put the team on his back, Thomas put together another dominant week as the guard finished with averages of 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Overall, Thomas shot 60.0 percent (15-25) from the field, 44.4 percent (4-9) from beyond the arc, and 91.7 percent from the free throw line (11-12) across San Francisco's two games.
On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Thomas finished with 10 points, two rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 22 minutes as San Francisco defeated Stanislaus State, 68-52. Picking up a huge victory in Milwaukee, Thomas willed San Francisco to a 76-66 neutral-site victory over Loyola Chicago on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Notably, the Fontana native finished with a career-high 35 points as he finished 11-of-16 from the field, 2-of-4 from distance, and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Additionally, Thomas added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 38 minutes played
For San Francisco, this honor marks the third weekly award this season.
