DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Following a split of their first two games of the season, last weekend, San Francisco bested Northeastern in a 1-0 victory on Thursday, Aug. 22 before dropping the final match of a season-opening four-game home stand on Sunday, Aug. 25 in a 6-1 loss to California.
  • In Thursday's win over the Huskies, the Northeastern defense failed to clear an Alex Carpio kick in the 88th minute, which resulted in an own goal and the lone score of the contest to lift USF over Northeastern. With the victory, the green and gold secured their second shutout of the season.
  • On Sunday's matchup against the Golden Bears, Olivia Lukrofka notched her fourth-career goal while Lindsey Chau led the team with four shots, tying the most by a Don in a game so far this season.
SCOUTING THE ANTEATERS:
  • After winning its season opener against Saint Mary's on Thursday, Aug. 15, UC Irvine will host San Francisco looking for its second win of the season. To begin the year, the Anteaters tied San Diego (1-1) while dropping matches to #2 Stanford (3-0) and Washington (2-0).
  • UC Irvine is coming off a Big West Championship in 2023 as the Anteaters advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament last fall, totaling a 10-8-6 record overall. In the NCAA Tournament, UCI upset one-seed UCLA (1-0) and knocked off eight-seed Gonzaga (2-1) before falling to five-seed Nebraska (4-0).
  • 2023 Big West Championship MVP Emilie Castagna currently leads the Anteaters in total shots through their first four games of the season with nine. 2023 All-Big West First Team selection Kiera Smeenge currently ranks third in total minutes played for UCI this season with 330 minutes logged on the pitch.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • San Francisco is seeking its first win over UC Irvine in nearly 33 years as the Anteaters lead the all-time series 6-2-1, having won the previous six matchups against the Dons.
