DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Bouncing back from a close loss at Memphis, San Francisco protected home court with a wire-to-wire 80-70 win over Portland State on Wednesday night. Getting back on track, Ryan Beasley had his best performance of the young season with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, along with grabbing four rebounds and dishing out four assists in a career-high 36 minutes.
- Mookie Cook logged a third-straight double-figure scoring game, piling in 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 25 minutes off the bench against the Vikings. Tyrone Riley IV and Vukasin Masic rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points each, with Masic hitting three shots from downtown. Notably, in Chris Gerlufsen's tenure as head coach, USF is 38-8 in games where at least four Dons score in double-digits.
- The bench has shone offensively for San Francisco to start the 2025-26 campaign, as USF's 44.0 bench points per game is tied for the 19th-most across Division I this season. Cook and freshman Legend Smiley are averaging a combined 23.0 points per game off the bench through USF's first three contests.
- With Wednesday night's win, the green and gold have won 20 consecutive regular season games at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center, with five more games slated on the Hilltop in nonconference action this season.
SCOUTING THE BRAVES:
- Following a 28-9 year and an NIT bid last season, Bradley has opened its 2025-26 campaign with a 1-2 record, most recently suffering its first home loss of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 12, falling to UT Martin, 78-67.
- In the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) preseason poll, the Braves were picked to finish fourth in the conference as head coach Brian Wardle enters his 11th season with Bradley, having led the Braves to NIT appearances in each of the last three seasons. Notably, Wardle guided Bradley to back-to-back MVC tournament championships in 2019 and 2020.
- Sophomore guard Jaquan Johnson leads all MVC players in scoring coming into the matchup, averaging 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.7 steals across Bradley's first three games on 47.5 percent shooting from the floor. After earning All-MVC Freshman Team honors last season, the Milwaukee native as been on an offensive tear to begin his sophomore year, as he is one of 42 players in the country to have a 30-point game so far this season after putting up a career-high 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting in Bradley's first win of the season against Central Michigan (85-54) on Saturday, Nov. 8.
- As a unit, the Braves have made their defensive presence known to begin the year as they rank tied for 24th in the nation in steals, averaging 11.7 takeaways per game.
- Interestingly, Saturday night's game in San Francisco will be Bradley's only road game of their nonconference slate this season, playing every other non-MVC game at home or at a neutral site. Following their showdown with the Dons, the Braves will not play another true road game until their conference opener at Indiana State on Dec. 18.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Saturday night will mark just the fifth all-time meeting between San Francisco and Bradley, with the Braves holding a 3-1 all-time series advantage. Last season saw the Dons and Braves face off for the first time in nearly 43 years as Bradley narrowly defeated USF, 66-64, in Peoria, Ill., on Dec. 18, 2024. Ryan Beasley scored 11 points in the contest, cashing in on three triples off the bench.
