DONS AT A GLANCE:
- After coming up short in Spokane against Gonzaga last Thursday, San Francisco bounced back with an 84-61 victory at San Diego last Saturday, with the 23-point margin of victory being the green and gold's second-largest of conference action.
- Etching his name into the record books, Malik Thomas reached the 1,000-point plateau for his career in the win over the Toreros, scoring 20 points on three made three-pointers and a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the charity stripe.
- Heading into the final two weeks of WCC play, the Dons (11-4) sit at third in the conference standings, one game behind Gonzaga (11-3) and one game ahead of Santa Clara (9-5) in the loss column. One more win for USF would clinch at least a triple-bye into the quarterfinals for the green and gold in the 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship.
- Diving into the metrics, San Francisco (60/61) remains the fourth-highest ranked WCC team in both the NCAA's Net Rankings and KenPom, trailing Gonzaga (11/10), Saint Mary's (18/19) and Santa Clara (55/57).
- With a win over Pacific on Thursday night, San Francisco would finish with an undefeated record at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center for the first time since the 1980-81 season, when the Dons went a perfect 12-0 on the Hilltop that year.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Following a four-game losing streak in January, Pacific has been stacking wins recently as the Tigers have split their last six contests to reach four wins in WCC action.
- Last week, Pacific saw its largest margin of victory in conference play in four years (25 points) with an 83-58 victory at LMU on Thursday, Feb. 13 before falling to Oregon State in Corvallis on Saturday, Feb. 15 in a 79-65 defeat.
- In the win over the Lions, Lamar Washington notched his second 30-point game and third double-double of the season, totaling 31 points and a season-high 10 rebounds on 13-of-19 shooting.
- Scoring efficiently, junior guard Elijah Fisher is one of five WCC players shooting 50.0 percent or better in conference play, averaging 15.0 points (9th in the WCC) on 51.7 percent shooting from the floor (5th in WCC).
- Thursday night's game against San Francisco will mark the final road game of the season for Pacific. The Tigers will close out the regular season with two games at home against Portland (Feb. 22) and Santa Clara (Mar. 1).
