2010 SEASON: Turned in an impressive freshman season to lead the Dons in assists per set (2.82), service aces (23) and was second in kills per set (2.23) and digs per set (2.82)… was named Honorable Mention All-West Coast Conference… earn All-Freshman Team honors for the WCC… named to the Bluejay Invitational and Powerade/Asics Challenge All-Tournament teams… turned in three triple doubles… totaled 14 double-doubles… was sixth in the West Coast Conference with 7.41 assists per set in league matches… notched 30 or more assists in nine matches and two matches with 20 or more digs… led the team in assists in 25 out of 27 matches… paced the team in kills six times, digs six times and blocks twice… only Don to play in all 98 sets… totaled double-digit assists 26 out of 27 matches… turned in 13 double-digit digs matches… began collegiate career with 32 assists and 21 digs at Creighton (8/27)… finished with 12 assists and 12 digs against Lipscomb (8/28)… served up two aces with a career-high 16 kills against UC Santa Barbara (9/3)… totaled 18 assists, 16 kills and seven digs against Washington State (9/4)… added 29 assists and 15 digs against Florida International (9/11)… led the Dons with five blocks against Bethune-Cookman (9/11)… turned in first career triple-double with 30 assists, 14 kills and 13 digs against then-No. 10 California… totaled three service aces against Seattle (9/25)… gave the Dons 39 assists and 18 digs against Loyola Marymount (10/2)… finished with 23 assists and 12 digs at Gonzaga (10/7)… second triple double came at Portland after notching 34 assists, 11 kills, 10 digs and two service aces (10/9)… put down 11 kills against Saint Mary’s (10/16)… posted a career-high 58 assists with 19 digs against UC Davis (10/19)… totaled 31 assists and 20 digs at Santa Clara (10/22)… added 29 assists and 13 digs at Loyola Marymount (10/28)… third triple double of the season came after 38 assists, 16 kills and 10 digs against Portland (11/4)… gave the Dons 51 assists with 13 kills against Gonzaga (11/6)… finished the season with 33 assists, 10 digs and three service aces against Santa Clara (11/19).
Prep/Club Career: Named an AVCA All-American in 2009... Won back-to-back CIF Division II State Championships in 2008 and 2009 with Archbishop Mitty High School team that went 39-0 in 2009 and was ranked No. 1 in the country by ESPN… was named to the All-Tournament team for the CIF State Finals… two-time first-team Central Coast Section selection… named first-team West Catholic Athletic League in 2009… MVP of Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions… won a bronze medal at 17 open with club team.
Personal: Joan Maureen Caloiaro… daughter of Dom and Maureen Caloiaro… born December of 1991… also played high school basketball… career goals are to make the team better, contribute through her role on the team and help get the Dons to the NCAA Tournament… chose USF because of the conference, it was close to home, she liked the team and campus during her visit and will be able to see her brother Vinny play soccer for USF and brother Angelo play basketball for USF… interests include watching TV, especially MTV’s Secret Life, hanging out with friends, eating sandwiches and Cheerios… major is undecided.
