USF head women's basketball coach Jennifer Azzi was tapped as a recipient of the NCAA's Silver Anniversary Award. Given on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their collegiate athletics careers, award winners are selected by representatives of NCAA member schools and conferences along with a panel of distinguished former student-athletes.

Along with being recognized for accomplishments on the court of play as a collegian, honorees are picked based on professional accomplishments including contributions to professional organizations and charitable and civic activities. The class of six include Azzi, Brent Lang (Michigan; swimming & diving), Pellom McDaniels (Oregon State; football), Bernard Muir (Brown; basketball), Mike Mussina (Stanford; baseball) and Tamyra Rogers (Oklahoma; women's basketball).

For Azzi, those accomplishments can be seen with two Pac-10 Conference championships, an NCAA title, Naismith Player of the Year honors, and status as a two-time All-American. After her time at Stanford, Azzi earned a gold medal playing for the United States in the 1996 Olympic Games, and went on to play professional basketball overseas and stateside. In her fifth year at the helm of the Dons, Azzi is guiding her team on the court, in the classroom in around the San Francisco community.
