NEW YORK – University of San Francisco midfielder
Leon Schwarzer was named as one of the initial 60 NCAA DI college players invited to participate in the 2018 adidas MLS Player Combine, announced by Major League Soccer on Thursday.

Schwarzer, a native of Munster, Germany, was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year and an All-WCC selection after providing a team high nine assists and adding six goals. He ended the year ranked 14th in the country and second in the WCC in assists. The senior ranked in the top 10 in the League in points (21), goals (6), game-winning goals (3) and assists (9). He ended his collegiate career as a two time All-WCC First Team selection, while performing in the classroom as well, being named to the 2017 All-WCC Academic First Team and United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American 2nd team.

Top collegiate players from across the country will showcase their talents in front of representatives from all 23 MLS clubs in Orlando, Fla. from Jan. 11-17, 2018. All invited players will be eligible for selection in the 2018 SuperDraft presented by adidas, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
A committee of MLS coaches and NCAA Division I coaches from every conference selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Further invitees including Generation adidas signings, non-collegiate players, and additional college seniors will be announced in the coming weeks.
