Dons Back At Home on Wednesday Against Harvard

The University of San Francisco men's basketball team looks to improve to 5-0 for the first time under head coach Kyle Smith.  In their way is Harvard (2-2) who comes to town for a non-conference clash on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  The game will be streamed live on TheW.tv with Pat Olson and Jim Brovelli with the call.  Additionally, fans can tune into the official home of USF Dons Basketball, 1550-AM The GAME for the radio broadcast.

  • This season, the Dons have been remarkably efficient on defense.  The Dons currently rank 47th in the nation in AdjD (adjusted defensive efficiency: points allowed per 100 possessions) with a ranking of 95.6 according to KenPom.com.  Last season, the Dons finished 99th in AdjD with a rating of 101.1.  In the WCC, the Dons rank third in adjusted defensive efficiency. 
THE SERIES
Wednesday's contest is the third time these two teams have faced each other with the Dons owning a 2-0 advantage in the series.  Both contests have been played at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center with the first contest taking place on Jan. 2, 1969 with the Dons coming away with a 65-63 win. 

ABOUT THE CRIMSON
Harvard returns 99.4 percent of its scoring and 99.0 percent of its minutes from last year's squad which captured the program's sixth Ivy League Championship and made its second ever appearance at the NIT.  Only George Mason returns a higher percentage of scoring on a national level. The Crimson are 2-2 with wins over MIT (78-66) and UMass (74-71).  They lost to Northeastern and Rhode Island.  Junior Chris Lewis leads the team with 15.8 points per game.
 
LAST GAME AGAINST HARVARD
The last time these two teams faced each other was on Dec. 22, 1986 with the Dons coming away with an 86-65 win over the Crimson at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.  The Dons were led by Anthony Mann's 20 points, Patrick Clardy led the Dons with seven rebounds. USF would finish that year 16-12, while the Crimson would go 9-17.
 
UP NEXT
