The weekend series:Â The University of San Francisco baseball team opens the 2018 season on the road, taking on the University of Texas San Antonio. Game one is slated to begin at 4 p.m. (PT) on Friday. Then the two teams will square off in games on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game will begin at 12 p.m. (PT), while Sunday's first pitch will be at 11 a.m. (PT).

This weekend's series see's the Dons eyeing the series record lead, with the current record at 3-5 against the Roadrunners. Ponticelli gets another opening day nod: For the second straight season
Thomas Ponticelli gets the nod on opening day for the Dons. Last season, Ponticelli went five innings against Northern Colorado, striking out five batters before being relieved by

Two new faces in the starting rotation: On Saturday and Sunday, the Dons will see two newcomers take to the mound against UTSA. Junior college transfer
Landen Bourassa will get the nod for Saturday, while freshman left-hander,
Haydn King, gets the call on the final day of the series.
Gameday will see 16 new faces for USF: The 2018 USF roster sees several new faces, with nine freshmen and seven transfers. In the starting lineup, freshman
Jack Winkler get be at third base, while junior college transfer
Jonathan Allen will be in left field.
Ponticelli named to preseason All-WCC team: The junior pitcher was named to the West Coast Conference All-WCC team announced by the League last week. In 2017, Ponticelli boasted a record of 4-2 with a 2.45 ERA, while leading the team in strikeouts (65) and batters walked (10). His 10 walks were tops in the WCC in that category, as well.
