Facing the Bulldogs: The Bulldogs have been successful against USF throughout the years, holding a 77-20 advantage in the all-time series. When the two teams met last in the 2017 season, Fresno State came out winners in the two times the teams played each other. The two seasons series before 2017 saw USF cultivate success against the Bulldogs, winning two-of-three in 2016, while splitting four games in 2012 (2-2).
King gets the nod: Freshman pitcher, Haydn King will take the mound for USF on Tuesday for his first appearance since the opening series against UTSA. In his start against the Roadrunners, King struggled allowing four runs in the first inning. King will look to bounce back like fellow opening series starter Landen Bourassa has and keep the Bulldogs at bay on Tuesday.
Allen the catalyst: Although he didn't garner a RBI over the weekend, Jonathan Allen continued to be a catalyst in the USF lineup. In the second game of the doubleheader this weekend, Allen began the game with a 13-pitch at-bat that ultimately led to a base hit for the junior. Allen later scored on a Riley Helland single, one of two runs to cross the plate that inning. Allen added another six hits to his team leading hit tally of 18.
Ornido's no-hit streak: Heading into his start on Sunday, Riley Ornido threw eight no-hit innings, allowing just one walk over that span. It wasn't until the seventh inning that UC Riverside were able to get to Ornido, allowing his first hit of the season, which was a double. That capped his no-hit streak at an impressive 14.1 innings. Ornido has still yet to allow an earned run to cross the plate, keeping his ERA at 0.00.
