THE RUNDOWN
Stanford, Calif. - University of San Francisco's men's and women's track and field teams head down the Bay to compete in the Cardinal Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Cardinal Classic is always a competitive meet, and this year will be no different. There will 15 schools competing, including No. 1 ranked women's team in the country, Arkansas, as well as fellow nationally ranked schools Stanford, Alabama, Colorado, Minnesota and Purdue.

On Friday, USF will open in the 800-meter's for both men and women. The pair of Emma Stahr and Alena Ulrichova will be eyeing NCAA qualifying times in the 800m, and improve on their performances as they will come up against a field full of strong competition.

Friday will finish with the 5,000m, highlighted by Marie Bouchard who will take to the track following a three-week hiatus since setting the school-record in the 3,000m steeple chase at the Stanford Invitational.

On Saturday, Samantha Lind will take to the track in her signature event, the 400m, aiming to improve on her school record time of 55.21, and put up an NCAA qualifying time.

Finishing off the weekend for the Dons is the 1,500m, which was the highlight a week ago. Combined, USF will send five runners to compete in this event. Last week, Lea Meyer made her outdoor debut in the 1,500 and finished in second in her heat and overall.

For the men, Scott Halsted and Henry Mong will hit the track in the 1,500m as well, looking to improve on their performances from last week, which saw them both run personal bests. School record holder in the event, Hugh Nicklason, will also take to the track in that event and will compete in heat one.
