BASE | Power Programs, Strong Home Slate Highlights 2019 Schedule

2019 USF Baseball Schedule

SAN FRANCISCO —
Three NCAA Regional teams, eight teams that won 30 or more games, three "Power-5" opponents, another competitive West Coast Conference slate and a collection of 28 home games at Benedetti Diamond highlight the 2019 San Francisco baseball schedule, set to kick off on Feb. 15 on the road at San Diego State.

The Dons' schedule starts off fast and challenging with eight road games in their first 11 contests. 2019 starts on Feb. 15-17 with a three-game road series at the defending Mountain West Conference Tournament champion Aztecs in San Diego. The Aztecs won 39 games in 2018 and played in the Corvallis Regional, where eventual national champion Oregon State arose.

Then comes USF's home opener on Feb. 22 with a three-game tilt versus CSU Bakersfield – a team that was in an NCAA Regional just four years ago. San Francisco will host 28 home games in 2019, with games against college baseball powers like Stanford, California and Pepperdine, local names like San Jose State, Sacramento State and UC Davis, and WCC competitors like Saint Mary's and Loyola Marymount.

The Dons hit the road again on Feb. 26 for a single game at preseason No. 7/9 and 2018 NCAA Regional Host Stanford to wrap up February and a three-game series at Big 12 Conference member Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., to kick off March (March 1-3).

"We are very excited about the strength of our non-conference schedule with games in the Pac-12, Big 12 and Big West," said San Francisco head coach Nino Giarratano. "The diversity will give us a great indication of our strengths headed into the very competitive WCC schedule."

San Francisco – who made an appearance in the WCC Tournament last season – kicks off WCC play at home on March 15 with a three-game series versus Portland. The Dons' longest home stand of the season – a nine-game stretch at the start of April – features a return game against local powerhouse Stanford, Bay Area foe San Jose State, and WCC series against 2018 WCC Tournament participant Loyola Marymount and 2016 WCC champion Saint Mary's. San Francisco also hosts 2018 WCC regular season champion Pepperdine on May 3-5.
