WICHITA, Kan. — University of San Francisco baseball senior catcher Robert Emery has been named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List for the second year in a row, an award given to the top NCAA Division I catcher in the nation, as announced by the Greater Wichita Sports Commission on Monday.
 
Emery is the Dons' leading hitter this season, batting .373 and slugging .525. He enters this week riding a 12-game hitting streak that includes six multi-hit games, two doubles, two home runs and nine RBIs. He's also been perfect defensively behind the plate without an error in 56 chances. He's thrown out three would-be base stealers while holding runners to a 50.0% success rate.
 
Sixty catchers were nominated for the award by their coaches. Because the award is given annually to the top division one collegiate catcher, the list will be updated to include other candidates until May 6. The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, whom will be announced May 19. The finalists will be announced June 3. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at the 23rd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 25.
 
Oregon State catcher, Adley Rutschman, was named the catcher of the year last June. Kyle McCann of Georgia Tech and Eric Yang of UC Santa Barbara were the other finalists for the award.
