VB | Four Dons Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Four members of the University of San Francisco women's volleyball team earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
 
Senior libero Anna Dalla Vecchia, outside hitters Valeria Alegrias Cambindo and McKenna Marshall, and middle blocker Orsula Staka all earned honorable mention honors. This is the first time for all four players have earned the award.
 
To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average and be a starter or an important reserve, having participated in at least 50% of the institution's completed contests.
 
Dalla Vecchia, a communications major with a 3.21 GPA, leaves the Hilltop one of the all-time leaders in digs. The two-time All-WCC honoree finished her career with 1,244 digs, which ranks sixth all-time.  Her 4.3 digs per set in 286 sets played ranks third all-time.
 
Valeria Cambindo, a sociology major with a 3.32 GPA, had a tremendous junior campaign. The opposite finished the season with a career-best .204 attack percentage. Her 2.1 kills per set was third on the team.
 
Staka, a psychology major with a 3.95 GPA, had a breakout campaign for the Dons in the spring of 2021. She finished with season with career-bests in kills (110), kills per set (1.6), attack percentage (.260), and points (152.5). She tallied single-match career bests in kills (10) against San Diego, and blocks (10) against Pacific.
 
Marshall, an innovation major with a 3.36 GPA, had a breakout year her final season on the Hilltop. The First Team All-WCC honoree put up career-best numbers in nearly every statistical category. Her 281 kills ranked second in the WCC, while her 4.07 kills per set ranked fourth in the conference.
 
The volleyball team excelled as a unit academically. The Dons boasted a team GPA of 3.70 in the fall, with 14 players achieving a GPA north of 3.0, 13 of those having a GPA of 3.5 or better. Freshman Sara Denham joined Staka as two players with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall.
