MEDFORD, Ore. - They say that October baseball is when the stars shine brightest. This October, the USF Baseball program will make its first appearance of the upcoming campaign, squaring off against Pac-12 powerhouse Oregon State with a pair of exhibition games on October 16.
The last time the Dons and Beavers faced off was in 2016, when USF battled then-No. 4 Oregon State throughout a three-game series in Corvallis, including a 5-0 win in the series finale. Last year, the Beavers went 37-24 and reached the NCAA Regional, making next month's showdown an early test for the 2022 team.
"We are very excited to have the opportunity to play a fall game in Medford in front of a wonderful crowd," said head coach Nino Giarratano. "We are also very privileged to play such a wonderful opponent as Oregon State. This will give our program and players a wonderful opportunity to learn and compete against the very best in College Baseball. We are looking forward to the overall experience."
In 2021, the Dons earned three wins over Pac-12 competition, including a pair of victories over No. 2 UCLA to kick off the season.
Both contests will be held in historic Medford, Ore., hosted by the Medford Rogues organization of the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League. First pitch for game 1 will be at 1:00 p.m. PT, with game 2 beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT at Harry & David Field.
Tickets for these events can be purchased at medfordrogues.com starting at 10:00 a.m. on September 27. Food and beverage, including adult beverages, will be served. No outside food, beverages or pets will be permitted with the exception of service animals. Gates to the stadium will open one hour prior to first pitch.
