BACK HOME:
- It was a 2-3 overall trip for the Dons in the Pacific Northwest as they took two of three from the Pilots over the weekend and then couldn't rebuild the same mojo as they lost both games against #21 Oregon.
- Sophomore infielder Luke Keaschall has continued his torrid hitting as he leads the Dons with a .308 batting average and gets on base at a well-above average .444 on-base percentage hitting at the top of the USF batting order.
- Fellow sophomore pitcher Owen Stevenson has been a force leading the USF pitching staff in 2022, he was excellent in USF's series opening win last Friday in Portland allowing just one earned run in 6 2/3 innings pitched while striking out three Pilot hitters. Stevenson is currently top five in the WCC in individual ERA with a 2.45 mark.
- The Dons are also getting it done on the bases with three athletes in the top five in the conference in stolen bases with Keaschall leading the way with 19 bags stolen, Foster in third with 13, and Harris Williams III in fifth place with nine stolen bases on the season.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
- The Toreros enter this weekend in first place in the conference standings with a 5-1 record in WCC play through the first two weekends.
- Leading the San Diego offense halfway through the season is sophomore infielder Chase Meidroth who's posted a team high .382 batting average and is getting on base every two plate appearances he takes with a sky-high .500 on-base percentage hitting at the top of the Torero batting order.
- Senior right-handed pitcher Garrett Rennie has been USD's most reliable arm this season as he's made six starts compiling a 2.65 ERA in those appearances with 37 1/3 innings pitched and a .266 batting average against.
- San Diego leads the all-time series 29-21 against the Dons as USD took two of three during the 2021 spring season back at Fowler Park.
