DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Recording their first series victory in Malibu since 2006, USF took two out of three against Pepperdine this past weekend as the Dons tallied their third conference series win of the season. On Sunday, junior Jesse Barron went the distance for the first time in his career as the right-hander tossed a complete game, striking out a career-high nine batters and allowing just one walk in the 6-3 win.
- Making his case for WCC Player of the Year, sophomore standout Luke Keaschall currently leads the conference in runs (36), hits (47), stolen bases (25) and on-base percentage (.471). Notably, the Watsonville native also sits second in walks (25), third in doubles (11), tenth in home runs (5) and eleventh in batting average (.326).
- Dangerous on the basepaths, three of the top five base stealers in the conference wear green and gold: Keaschall (25, first), Darius Foster (18, third) and Harris Williams III (12, tied for fourth).
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS:
- Winners of seven of their last ten, Cal took two out of three on the road at Washington State last weekend to win their second straight Pac-12 series. Looking to win their third straight non-conference matchup, the Golden Bears will open a five-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Dons.
- Under head coach Mike Neu, Cal is 8-3 against USF as they currently hold a 128-58 advantage in the all-time series. Last season, the Golden Bears took three out of four games against the Dons in a four-game home-and-home series.
- Getting it done at the dish, Cal is among Pac-12 leaders with 127 extra-base hits this year, which includes 40 home runs (fifth), 11 triples (third) and 76 doubles (third). Individually, 2022 Golden Spikes Award Watch List honoree Dylan Beavers leads the Pac-12 with eleven home runs as he has hit an impressive .389 in Cal's last ten games. Since Apr. 2, the Golden Bears are averaging 8.6 runs per game and have scored 14+ runs twice in their past five games.
