DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Exploding to tie their single game season-high with 14 runs, USF notched their third consecutive victory and first against a Pac-12 opponent in their last time out as the Dons downed Cal, 14-11, in Berkeley on Tuesday, Apr. 19. Prior to this matchup, USF took two of three on the road at Pepperdine last weekend to secure their first series win in Malibu since 2006.
- Proving to be one of the most dangerous teams in the conference at the plate, Jordan Vujovich has reached base in ten straight games while teammate Luke Keaschall has reached in eight straight contests to go along with a five-game hitting streak. Notably, Keaschall also leads the Dons with 13 multi-hit games as the sophomore paces the USF offense with a .324 batting average.
- On the mound, junior Josh Mollerus has been a force for the green and gold as the right-hander currently holds a 0.77 ERA in 11.0 innings pitched in conference games. Overall, the Campbell native is 2-0 with two saves and 19 strikeouts across six appearances in WCC action.
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- Taking two of their last three, LMU comes into the weekend having split a two-game series with UNLV earlier this week. On Monday, Apr. 18, the Lions broke out the bats to grab game one over the Runnin' Rebels, 16-12, before falling 21-11 in game two on Tuesday, Apr. 19.
- Serving as a catalyst for the LMU offense, third baseman Diego Baquiero currently ranks in the top ten in the conference in RBI (39, first), sacrifice flies (3, second), home runs (7, third), total bases (71, sixth) and hits (42, eighth). Turning to the rubber, Friday starter Diego Barrera also sits second in the WCC in earned run average with a 1.74 ERA.
- As a team, the Lions head into the weekend fourth in runs scored (208), home runs (29) and stolen bases (32) while also ranking sixth in total RBI (177). Despite their sub .500 overall record, LMU is currently tied with San Diego for second in the conference standings as both teams hold a 9-6 record in WCC play as of Thursday. This season, the Lions have swept Saint Mary's and secured series victories over Portland and Pacific.
