DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • Following an extended stretch on the road, the Dons will be returning to the friendly confines of Benedetti Diamond for a crucial conference series that will go a long way to determining seeding for the conference tournament at the end of May. Heading into the weekend, USF currently holds series victories over San Diego, Portland and Pepperdine.
  • Preseason All-Conference pick Luke Keaschall has continued to dominate in his sophomore season as the USF leadoff hitter is amongst the conference leaders in numerous offensive categories. Currently, the versatile shortstop has a .331 batting average as well as a conference-leading 25 stolen bases to go along with a new career-high seven home runs.
  • Right-hander Julian Washburn has been a force for the Dons out of the bullpen lately as the senior has notched scoreless outings in each of his last three outings and seven of his last nine appearances.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
  • BYU enters this weekend's game fresh off a home victory over Utah Valley, who the Dons took three of four from earlier this season
  • The Cougars are led offensively by freshman infielder Ozzie Pratt who is currently the lone BYU hitter with a batting average over .300.
  • On the mound, BYU is led by projected game one starter Jack Sterner, who has compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.38 ERA in ten starts this season. In total, the sophomore has pitched 56 2/3 innings and punched out 51 opposing hitters.
