THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Dons have a busy week ahead of them as they will return home for the first time since March 26 as they've accumulated a 3-3 record on the road in that time.
- Following Stapleton's tremendous weekend up in Provo, he's now currently the WCC's RBI leader on the season driving in 37 runs hitting in the middle of the USF batting order.
- Settling into the lead-off spot in the batting order, Mario DeMera has continued to rake throughout the season as he ranks second in the WCC with a .398 batting average as the junior infielder also is third in the league with his .487 on-base percentage as his OPS for the season is just south of 1.000.
- Filling in a variety of roles on the Dons' pitching staff, Lombard ranks fourth on the staff with 24 1/3 innings pitched in 12 appearances making three starts with a 4.44 ERA and a .274 opponent's batting average against during the 2023 season.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS:
- Oregon enters this week with a 20-9 record on the season and a 7-5 mark in the Pac-12 as they dropped two of three games at home over the past weekend to in-state rival Oregon State. The Dons made the trip up to Eugene last season to compete and dropped both games with the series finale a close extra innings loss to the Ducks.
- At the plate, UO boasts four hitters with batting averages north of .300 this season with senior outfielder Tanner Smith leading the way with a .367 batting average six home runs and 24 RBI as he's posted a slugging percentage better than .600 as he's played and started in all 29 of his team's games this season.
- Providing tremendous relief out of the team's bullpen, junior right-hander Austin Anderson has allowed just one earned run in 11 games pitched with opposing hitters posting just a .047 batting average against the Ducks' reliever.
SCOUTING THE WAVES:
- Following a weekend where they were able to take two of three games at home over Saint Mary's, Pepperdine heads north to face the Dons posting a 10-19 record overall to go along with a 4-8 mark in the WCC which puts them even with USF tied for eighth in the conference standings.
- Leading his team's pitching staff throughout the 2023 season, left-hander Shane Tefler ranks fourth in the conference with a 2.74 ERA in eight starts for the Waves as he pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs in his last time out against the Gaels.
- An impact bat for the Dons to be wary of this weekend is senior infielder Ryan Johnson who's the conference leader with 12 home runs this season to go along with a .356 batting average and 29 RBI which is good for fourth most in the conference rankings this year.
