SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The 37
th annual Swanson Memorial Golf Tournament was a sweeping success for the University of San Francisco Athletics department just a few weeks back on Monday, May 1st.
Hosted by the Athletics staff at the prestigious Olympic Club in San Francisco, the fundraiser saw 140 golfers play the Ocean course and 44 golfers play the Par 3 Cliffs course.
Set at one of the premier locations on the West Coast, golfers enjoyed the cool weather on the course followed by a cocktail reception inside the main ballroom. Prizes at the reception included a two-person trip with the men's basketball team to an away game, dinner with Director of Athletics Larry Williams and much more. Among the participants, five-time NBA champion and USF's Director of University Initiatives Bill Cartwright hit the links alongside basketball broadcaster and former USF head men's basketball coach, Dan Belluomini.
The annual event is named in honor of USF alumnus and former halfback John Swanson '38 and sponsored by the generous support of the Sam Johnstone '42 through the Sam and Pauline Johnstone Foundation, whose unwavering commitment to USF athletics has left a lasting legacy for the generations of Dons who have followed them.
