SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – After leading the University of San Francisco volleyball team to wins over Gonzaga and Portland,
Karolina Nova was named West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Nova led the Dons offensively through the first week of conference play, accumulating 26 kills, including a season-high 19 in the 3-1 win over Portland last Saturday. Reaching double-digit kills for the fifth time this season, Nova played a crucial role in the later stages against the Pilots, sparking a comeback after the Dons dropped the first set.
The graduate student from Pribham, Czech Republic, totaled a .273 hitting percentage and a stellar 3.71 kills per set ratio in two matches, adding 29.0 points, 14 digs, and one solo block.
Following the first two conference matches of the season, Nova ranks third in the WCC in kills per set, fourth in total kills, and sixth in points.
San Francisco returns to action at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, when it faces off at Pacific at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
