SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team and Head Coach
Diogo Silva have officially announced the signing class for the upcoming 2024 season: Shannon Sheehy of Anthem, Ariz., Delaney Ewing of Fort Collins, Colo., and Shannon Knight of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
"We added this group because of their talent, work ethic, and values that align with the program," Silva said on his recruits. "All of them come from great families, which is important for us. I am very excited to keep building this program with them and the rest of the team. We will have a talented group, and we will work to become a great team."
Sheehy joins the Dons after guiding Sandra Day O'Connor High School to the 2023 6A State Championship title. In three seasons with the Eagles, Sheehy shined as the team's starting setter, accumulating 1,003 career assists, including recording a career-high 625 during her final season of competition. During her senior season, she was named 2023 First Team All-Region and served as the team captain.
Along with her stellar high school career, Sheehy competed for the Revolution Volleyball Academy at the club level from 2020-2023 and helped the squad win the bronze at the 2023 USA Volleyball (USAV) National Championships.
"Shannon is very organized, disciplined, and open to feedback," Silva said. "She tries to apply what she has learned without giving up."
Ewing enters her first season of collegiate volleyball after three seasons at Fossil Ridge High School. Competing as an opposite hitter, she totaled 419 kills, a .383 hitting percentage, 131 total blocks, and 23 assists in 179 sets played. Excelling during the 2023 season, Ewing garnered a First Team All-Conference honor and an All-State selection.
"Delaney is such a hard worker and is so competitive," Silva said. "Those characteristics will help her achieve her potential."
Knight, an opposite hitter, transfers to the Hilltop after competing at the University of Miami for two seasons. While with the Hurricanes, Knight played in four sets in 2022 and did not appear in a match in 2023. Before her collegiate career, she was a four-year scholar-athlete at Mira Costa High School, guiding the Mustangs to the Bay League Division 1 Title.
Knight also competed at the club level for the Sunshine Volleyball Club, helping her 18U team win the Open Division National Championship.
"Shannon has the versatility to play as a middle blocker and as a right side," Silva said on his incoming transfer. "Her physicality will also contribute to the team, and her previous experience in a competitive conference can give us a different perspective."
